- Learn how to tell your story and own it. Your journey matters.
- Don’t try to be “humble.” Be bold and confident in marketing yourself.
- Avoid applying from a “helpless” or “victim” mindset. Scholarships are mutually beneficial—you bring expertise, ideas, and impact through your research and experiences.
- A “no” is not final. It often means it wasn’t the right opportunity. Not every scholarship is meant for you—learn from each rejection and keep moving forward.
- Be clear about what you want. Clarity prevents blind applications and increases your chances of success.

Success Waymarks Foundation STEM Event held on 17th Feb 2023 to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, 2023 with the Theme "“Bringing Everyone Forward for Sustainable and Equitable Development using Technology'". Keynote speech was delivered by Olayinka Fagbemiro (Chief Scientific Officer, NASDRA) and main talks by Rukayat Ayomide Erinfolami (Security Engineer at Google, USA) and Wuraola Oyewusi (Data Scientist and AI Researcher, Imperial College, UK).

Debate session by some high school representatives was fantastic on the topic "Artificial Intelligence is key to innovation in Science and Technology". Debate judges include prominent professional in the field of AI, Dr. Chika Yinka-Banjo, Dele Omotosho and Moyo Asubiojo

The event was hosted physical by St. Annes School, Ibadan and with participants online, it featured talks centred around "Our Time is Now: Our Rights, Our Future. The program was a huge success with about 2,000 girl students participants from different states in Nigeria and beyond.

The event was moderated by Wonderful Osalor, team lead of the Tech Girls Club.
