2020 celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science. We had over 70 students from 4 different schools in Osogbo. The schools are Fakunle Unity, OSCCO, Victoria and Georgas. The event featured an introduction by the dynamic and energetic Lauretta Malaka, a trained engineer.
The introduction followed a welcome speech by Aderonke Adeyegbe, the MD of Comercio Cloud Computing. The latter part of her speech was emotional as she remembered the late Dr Ameyo Adadevoh who put her life on the line during the Ebola crisis and as a result died to save all of us.
May her soul continue to rest in peace. The special feature talk by Victory Yinka-Banjo, who is 16 years old was a wow one. Victory plays violin, engage in writing and public speaking, senior prefect in school, service leader in church yet she is a straight-A science student who emerged with an A* results in the 2019 Cambridge exam. She made the girls realize that one must strive to be an all-round student.
She also told them about how God always help her. The panel session moderated by Toyin Ajilore gave the girls opportunity to have many burning issues on their mind resolved. Thanks to the panelists, Grace Oluwadebi of Uniosun, Folake Ikotun of MTN Connect and Aderonke Sakpere of Unibadan.
